Hello everyone and Happy New Year! As a second semester senior, I feel like I finally have an understanding of high school. High school is definitely a time of change; you walk in with a certain mindset and walk out a lot more wiser, and ready to take on the world around you. For me, it was definitely was a learning experience, whether it be extracurriculars or academics. If you feel like you are going through a difficult time, know that you are not alone. Everyone goes through their own set of obstacles as they blaze their way through their secondary education. No matter how hard it may seem at the moment, know that each and every one of your hardships will amount to something triumphant. Without the hardships that you face, you won't gain the valuable lessons that come with it. Learn to embrace your failures and look forward to the future. Learning from your mistakes is just a part of finding your path to success, and 12 years of schooling really does teach you that. In addition to learning from your hardships, it is also helpful to know your own limits academically and socially, and respect them; just because someone like to do things a certain way does not mean that you should do it as well. It is easy to fall under the peer pressure, but if you know your limits, you’ll find yourself in a better position. Also, don't be afraid to try new things and get out of your comfort zone! This is a time to explore the possibilities of your potential and learn things about yourself that you didn't know before. During high school, I got out of my comfort zone by opening up the very first field hockey club at my school. Regardless of the outcome, I made a lasting impact on the school and on the community. Most of all, don't forget to have fun! Besides the hardships, this is the first time that you actually get more freedom to do things that you couldn't do before (for the most part lol). I hope that this advice has left a little bit of cheer and inspiration in your day. Feel free to reach out to me if you need any more advice!

Finally, I would like to leave you all with this inspirational quote:

If there is no struggle, there is no progress.

~Fredrick Douglass

I wish you all a very happy 2019, and I have hope that you all will achieve your dreams this year! You all got this! ☺ ☺
